First of all, I must say that I have enjoyed this week in a special way. I think idioms were left behind many time ago and we haven't used them anymore. But idioms are a good way of saying things that sometimes we don't know how to say. That is why, we should make use of them more frequently and also learn some of them, the ones that we see more useful for our day by day.
But in this very case we have been told to find out idioms which involve parts of the body. Then, once I have done my little research, the idioms that I have liked the most are the following five ones:
- in the blink of an eye
This idiom means 'very quickly'
-cry your heart out
This one means to cry very hard
-to deep a toe in the water
This expression is used when someone starts something new very carefully, not knowing if it will work or not.
-to be easy on the ear
When some noise, music or whatever is pleasant to listen to
-to skin someone alive
This idiom means to punish someone really hard, in a severe way.
I think this week has been very profitable for us, the students. Also, with the blog, as we have to look for more idioms and to write them down, I'm sure we have learnt a lot a this idioms will be kept in our minds.
Apart from the idioms with body parts, this week we have studied the inversion. Moreover, we are always told to look for further information and explanations on the internet. That is how we really learn. Then, the most advantageous web pages that I have found hava been the following ones:
https://www.thoughtco.com/inversion-definition-1209968
Especially this one provides a very good explanation of inversion for C1 learners, that is to say, for the level we are supposed to have. Then we can look around it to see the explanations and read some inverted sentences.
https://www.learn-english-today.com/lessons/lesson_contents/verbs/inversion.html
This web page contains as well a good explanation of the inversiom, step by step and maybe for a lower English level. Anyway, I would also recommend it.
And, finally, this is the last web I have looked at in order to complete my studying of inversion:
https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/inversion.html
To finish this post, and what's more, to be honest, the searching of these web sites and idioms have been my studying of English this week. It is true that some weeks I feel more comfortable looking for new information and complementing my English lessons, but this week this, and only this, has been my research and study to improve my English.
