Week 6: TELLING THE TRUTH

WHY DO PEOPLE LIE?

I am speacilly interested on this topic, as I have considered lies to be such a complex aspect during all my life. I will explain myself. Actually, I am a very sincere person, I never lie, I promise. Lying is an ugly thing. I mean, lying is awful. Why do people lie? Well, there are various reasons to give answer to this question. Nevertheless, I don't share none of them.

Sometimes people lie to protect somebody else. Or to protect himself or herself. Sometimes, people lie not to hurt someone else, but it the end it hurts more! It makes no sense. Lies are bad, they could safe you for a little while but at the end the truth is always realased and it will be worse.

However, the most common lies, from my point of view, are the ones that we tell when we are fifteen or sixteen years old. In other words, if we don't like lying and we don't lie anymore, it is for sure that you have lied when you were a youngster. At least once! Isn't it?

Who hasn't tell his mum that he was to stay in somebody else's home for sleeping and went to a crazy party without permission? I've done it, and I'm sure you too, and everyone! But that type of lie is not that bad. Indeed, I think mothers really know that but they pretend not to know it. They do a really good job in this specific cases. But the aim of these kind of lies is not hurting anyone, just hiding a little bit the truth, but not inventing a truth that is not really the TRUTH but a lie.

Therefore, the lies that truly hurts and the ones that make somebody a false or insincere person. The ones that hurt somedoby's heart, the ones that are for cheating people but not for saving them. 

Then, all in all, I think we can sometimes tell a litlle lie, for instance white lies... Nevertheless, I do not recommend to tell lies, to anybody. They end up beig worse and creating undesirable situations, making people angry and messing up all type of relationships.

IMPROVEMENT OF MY ENGLISH

And well, for the last part of this post, I will tell what I have done in order to improve my English this week. The truth is (I have to be sicnere after having written that) that I have been translating some articles from Spanish to English to help a friend who is building up a web page for his uncle. I think I will continue doing this kind of tasks as I enjoy it and it is also really good for my English learning. Moreover I learn from a lot of different fields as the articles are about smart cities, for instance.
